April 28th – May 5th
We were excited to get to Branson. We had heard it was a beautiful part of the county with tons to do! It did not disappoint…except the drive!
We left Nashville and knew we were going to have bad weather along the way. We did not realize HOW bad it was going to be. Made it to Kentucky (which was beautiful country) and into Missouri. Stopped for gas and the sky went dark and it started to sprinkle. Next thing we know, we are in a flash flood where I literally had my head to the windshield to see the highway lines in front of me. I could not pull over because I could not see, and, any traffic behind me very well would have plowed us down should we have stopped. For about 10 minutes, the truck went silent. Calm breathing with some prayer and we emerged out of the heavy rain! It was scary, particularly with the 5th wheel behind us. We had a bit of a break and then checked our tornado app to find 3 warnings within 40 minutes of us! We dodged all that and arrived at our campsite. Come to find out, the campsite tornado sirens had gone off 3 hours before we arrived and sent all campers to the local Bass Pro Shop for shelter! Crazy.
Speaking of Bass Pro Shop, the boys were absolutely thrilled to go to their “1st Bass Pro Shop”. It was great. They had so much fun going up and down the aisles checking out all the gear. Boats, knives, fishing gear…the works. They were in their element! We had a great dinner after shopping and settled into our spot on Lake Taneycomo. A client of mine recommended the RV park and it was great!
Since we decided school was out for the remainder of our trip, each day was wide open for the boys. Good for them, busy for Meghan and I! Each day consisted of endless hours of fishing. They had a great time fishing in front of our spot each day with a new friend from Oklahoma.
We managed to get a nice hike in around Tablerock lake one day and it was beautiful! We scoped out some good Bass fishing spots while we were on the hike and knew we would return to try and get some good fish.
Branson is known for their entertainment. The town did not disappoint! Our first show was “Jesus” at the Sight & Sound Theater. AMAZING! It was incredible to see the life of Christ come alive on stage. They did a great job and all of us were captivated the entire time. Highly recommend this wonderful theater to anyone as well.
Our second show was “Acrobats of Shanghai” at Mickey Gilley. Also incredible! We were right near the front and enjoyed all of the incredible jumping, dancing and flying through the air the team had to offer! Great afternoon out.
Our RV park was right next to Branson Landing. They had a great Zipline that we all did. What a thrill! Maverick our youngest didn’t hesitate at all. I think I was more cautious than he was. What a great ride going over Lake Taneycomo. It was awesome!
Big Cedar Lodge. WOW! We spent an entire day down near Big Cedar. We did a beautiful golf cart tour through the Ozarks, explored the area and spent way too much time at the “Fun Zone”. Bumper cars, Go Kart racing, arcade games, bowling… it was such a fun time! We love seeing the boys have a great time, and, see their little competitive spirits come alive as well.
Our time in Branson was truly memorable. From all the beauty that the city had to offer to the endless entertainment. It is a place we would love to return to, one day! Time to keep heading west! Oklahoma, here we come.

Meghan and Brandon, What an incredibly detailed report especially driving through flood-like rain. I had a similar small experience on theNY Turnpike coming home from Katie’s Geneva NY home. Meghan- had a great chat with your Mother who had just visited with you all. Maura Scollin
